There are plenty of things for you and the family to do, when you stay in Longnor, in the Peak District. Nestled up high on the Staffordshire & Derbyshire border, Longnor provides the perfect base for you to head out and explore across the Peak District. And if some days you fancy doing something a little different, there are tonnes of attractions such as Alton Towers, Buxton Country Park & Caverns & Carsington Waters all within easy reach. And if you’re lucky enough to experience snow, there’s a Victorian sledge in the old store, that you can have hours of family fun on!

But some mornings, you might just want to do nothing, and that’s always acceptable at The Bakehouse! We’ve made a list of things to do, when you literally just want to do nothing, but unwind.

PARKHOUSE & CHROME HILL

One of the most popular walks in the Peak District, this circular walk of 4.5miles will take you about 3 hours, which includes the iconic ‘Peak District Dragon’s Back’,

LOSE YOURSELF IN BAKEWELL

Wander the streets of the quaint Derbyshire village of Bakewell. Enjoy the coffee shops or explore the independent shops, before indulging in the world-famous bakewell puds.

The cute village of Hartington is a short scenic trip away, by foot, bike or car – whatever mode of transport you prefer! With beautiful houses, a village green & artisan cheese shop, we’re sure you’ll love the local pace of life.

DOVEDALE & THOR's CAVE

8 Miles Away from The Bakehouse.
A lovely walk that is suitable for children too! You can spend a day by the river at Dovedale & head up to Thor’s cave (where bears used to live!). Take your camera, as the views out across the Peak District are spectacular.

STAND IN TWO COUNTIES

0.5 Miles Away from The Bakehouse.
Located on the border of Staffordshire & Derbyshire, Longnor is on the boundary of two counties. Head down to the river bank on the edge of the village and you can straddle across both counties!

ROACHES & LUDS CHURCH

6 Miles from the Bakehouse
Take a day trip to explore The Roaches & Luds Church, then see if you can find the mythical malicious mermaid, Jenny Greenteeth, who apparently lives at the bottom of Doxey Pool.

WILD SWIMMING & WATERFALLS

Three Shires Head Walk is a collection of pools & waterfalls, where Derbyshire, Cheshire & Staffordshire meet. Suitable for children too, this is one of the best Peak District wild swimming locations!

Bird watching, walks, watersports, horse riding, boating & more. Carsington Waters is a full day out, with shops & cafes too. Take the bikes and you can pedal for miles, at a family friendly pace.
