Amenities near Longnor

SHOP LONGNOR. SPEND LOCAL.

We are fortunate that the village of Longnor is packed full of fabulous amenities, that many other villages would be envious of! The village has a population of just over 300 people, but we are fortunate to have a pub, cafe, post office & takeaway. We encourage all of our guests to use as many of these as possible, as it’s through your custom they are able to stay open. Each one is unique, and each one has something different to offer you & your stay.

VILLAGE PUB

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is the local village pub, which reopens in August 2023 following a full refurbishment by the brewery – bringing with it a new menu, a fantastic range of local ales and a beer garden, where you can sit back and relax after a long day walking. It’s a firm favourite with locals & holiday guests.

VILLAGE SHOP

The Longnor Convenience Store is packed full of essential items and open 7 days a week. With just about everything you might need, it’s reasonably priced and accepts card (minimum £5 spend). Ice creams, tins, alcohol, plants, toys, magazines, tights, logs, bird seed – the list goes on for this village gem.

VILLAGE CHIPPY

According to one TripAdvisor review, this is the best Fish & Chip shop in the Peak District! Located on the market square, this is a village favourite, and expect queues outside from opening times. Don’t expect greasy kebabs from this traditional chippy – but fish, chips, pies. Check the opening times, as it can be limited.

VILLAGE PLAY AREA

Slides, swings & even a zip wire, located at the top of the village behind the school is the local play area. With stunning views out over rolling fields, this play area will make your little ones scream & shout with delight.  With picnic benches too, it’s well worth a visit to let the children let off some steam.

VILLAGE SWEET SHOP

Tucked away by the Post Office, Sweetlicious, will provide you your sweet fix. With lots of chocolate & candy to choose from, you can get a bag of sweets then head home to the comfy sofas and enjoy them infront of the tele – perfect!

VILLAGE POST OFFICE

A village staple – the local Post Office, is at the heart of the community. Write your complimentary post card, and send it off around the world. And consider picking up some fresh bread or essentials from in here too.
